Agni Czarnecka (MA, MSc, PG Dip)
I am a licensed psychodynamic counsellor with a Master's degree in psychotherapy from Oxford University. I am accredited by UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy, reg no: 2011173093). I worked as a psychotherapist for the NHS, Charity, Education, and Private Sectors. I currently see clients in my private practice.
Before becoming a psychotherapist, I worked for 10 years for multinational companies in the fast paced financial sector in London City. During my younger years, I trained as a classical musician for 18 years and was a stage-performing clarinet player. I, therefore, have first-hand experience with the pressures, worries, and anxieties of working in both business and the performing arts.
My therapeutic approach is informed by psychodynamic theory and practice. In the safety that therapy provides, clients have the opportunity to put together an account of their life. Most of us carry a narrative of our past and present experiences but we rarely share it out loud or reflect on it. This means that often some of our experiences, feelings, and perceptions aren't accessible to our conscious awareness yet influence our ways of thinking, perceptions, our behaviour and relationships in the present. As a person gets in touch with the lesser-known parts of themselves and becomes able to articulate their deep-seated feelings the work focuses on making sense of them. Unraveling a person's life long patterns that may work against them in the present and understanding their meanings is often a signifncant part of the work.
My counselling style has been described as follows:
‘Agni has that lovely combination of softness, warmth and strength that feels containing and reassuring and will be appreciated by her clients.’
I offer long and short-term therapy sessions, currently via video conferencing tools such as Zoom.
My qualifications include:
* MSt in Psychodynamic Practice (Oxford University, UK)
* Postgraduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling: Distinction (Oxford University, UK)
* MSc in Psychology: Distinction (Coventry University, UK)
* MA in Music (Moniuszko’s Academy of Music, Poland)
